I love lighting a candle. I made a new one this holiday season, covering a white pillar candle in a napkin with a beautiful scene of deer. I loved watching it illuminate as it burned down. I was very aware that as it burned, the edges were getting closer to the flame. All I can say is thank goodness I was right there when the paper caught fire this morning. Yikes!!! Time for a new candle as this is a cherished morning ritual.

This is lovely. As a Muslim, I find so much beauty in the concept of Tadabbur deeply contemplating creation. Winter has such a specific, hushed frequency that forces us to slow down and really hear our own thoughts (and the crackle of the fire!). It’s a wonderful nudge to treat the sounds of the season as a form of meditation. Such a calming read.
