Beautiful post Amy. As one who loves peonies, a love that dates back to a child in my grandma’s garden, it was fun to read of their origin. I feel somewhat akin to you and your story of your daughter. My adult son is challenged as well by mental health issues and most recently a diagnose of heart disease. Sending you and your family a little piece of my heart. πŸ’•

Thank you Kathy. So scary to have multiple things going on at once, sending you and your son light!

I love the imagery of the gradual unfurling of the peony being a metaphor for human life.

I'd never heard the legend of the peony before. Thanks for sharing.

May we all have guardians like the ants and the time and space to blossom like the peony.

Sending love and blessings to you and your family.

Wishing you, your family and especially your daughter lots of love and strength right now. I have been through tough times with my youngest son so know how hard it is for all of you xx

My mother grew peonies and I loved tthem. Thank you for the background and I will pray for your daughter's progress. I am very familiar with depression and the damage it can do, and how much light and being outdoors helps.
