A Favorite Winter Recipe
Best Lentil Soup
Cold winter days call out for soup simmering on the stove. There is something comforting about the warming aroma in the air. As our focus this month is listening, soup is a perfect counterpart. Soup, by nature, forces us to be methodical, slow down, and, in fact, listen. The rhythmic chopping of vegetables or sipping of the hot sustenance can lead us to inner reflection.
I gravitate towards Love and Lemons’ Best Lentil Soup each year at this time. It is healthy, flavorful, and easy, and is perfect for batch cooking to freeze or share. The recipe below serves four.
Not only is this warming and healthy, but the ingredients are readily available from your local farmers’ market year-round, and are inexpensive when purchased at your local grocer.
Recipe Tip: I use the ReciMe app for saving recipes, and one of the benefits is that you can put in the number of servings desired, and it will automatically update ingredient volumes for what you need. It also allows you to import anything you’ve saved on Instagram or Tik Tok!

I too agree that it's soup season. I've made 3 batches of Hamburger Soup in the past month and one Lemon Orzo Chicken. Yummy. It's almost like a ritual to place my bowl in its handmade fabric bowl cozy, sit down and quietly enjoy the flavors.
Love the connection between soup and listening - never thought about how stirring forces that meditative state, but its totally true. The grocer tip is clutch too since farmers markets can get pricey in winter. I started batch cooking lentils last year and its a game-changer for weeknight dinners when I'm too tired to think strait. The ReciMe app sounds really usefull for scaling recipes.
