“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...”
“So be sure when you step, Step with care and great tact. And remember that life's A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you'll move mountains.”
― Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You'll Go!
What an amazing week it has been! Our youngest graduated from college with the highest honors, Summa Cum Laude1! He was also notified that he got the job for which he’d competed against many other candidates in an extensive interview process!!
It was made doubly festive as my dad came into town for the graduation ceremony and an early holiday celebration with us before he moves on to spend time in New Jersey with my Brother’s family at the end of this week. Dad treated the new graduate to a few days in Chicago taking advantage of great food, games, and plenty of revelry. It was a lovely time and Papa got to meet his Grandkid’s significant others as well which made the trip extra special.
With all of the pomp and circumstance over now, we find ourselves preparing for the first accumulating snow of the season as we wind down toward the longest night of the year. I look forward to tucking into the holidays with our family, curled by the fire, listening to music, baking cookies, reading, working on puzzles, and generally spending time together.
Until next time,
