The change of the season is in full force as we head toward the darker time of year. It is my favorite time of the year, putting the garden to rest, and turning indoors. A simple, uplifting thing you can do and an alternative to scented candles is a simmer pot. For fall and approaching Samhain, I like to include the season's flavors. It adds a warm cozy atmosphere to your house while welcoming the season.
Fall Simmer Pot Recipe:
Orange Peel- from 1 whole orange in strips (Uplifting)
Apple Slices- 4 (Gratitude, generosity, harvest, abundance)
Cinnamon Sticks - 2 (Attracts positive energy)
Star Anise- 1 tsp (Healing, stimulate intuition)
Bay Leaf- 2 (Purification and protection)
Rosemary- 1 sprig (for remembering those we’ve lost)
Place all of the ingredients in a small stockpot on the stove. Fill the pot 3/4 full with water and simmer uncovered on low. You can use this same pot for up to 24 hours. Check periodically and top off the water as it evaporates.
Enjoy!
